The Charlie Cookson Foundation

Thank you Andy Robertson

On Saturday 16th September 2016 we had one of our incredibly brave fundraisers tackle one of the toughest runs around all in aid of raising vital funds for the Charlie Cookson Foundation to help us in supporting more inspirational families caring for children with life limiting conditions.

Andy Robertson ran the St Oswald’s 100 mile ultra-marathon from Holy Island, Northumberland to Chollerford to raise funds for the Charlie Cookson Foundation. Andy said: “It’s a personal goal for me but I’m also raising money for a great local north east charity. Huge thank you to everyone that has sponsored me so far and totally smashed my target of £500.”

Not only did Andy complete this unbelievably challenging run he also went and WON the whole entire thing coming an outstanding FIRST PLACE completing the run in 21hours and 36mins. We also can’t say this without a mention for Andy’s wife Sarah who joined the last section of Andy’s run to make it past the finish line with him. Sarah has forever been a great supporter of CCF and we were so pleased to see her joining her husband on his journey to the finish line. Also to Darren Armstrong who ran from 80 mile onwards with Andy giving him so much moral support and encouragement the whole way.

Andy also said: “Thank you for all the amazing support from all of you sponsoring me, all of you have raised over £1250 pound and rising for the Charlie Cookson foundation. That money will give a family the quality time they need to spend with their terminally ill child. I’m absolutely overwhelmed by your generosity.”

We can’t thank Andy enough for taking on such a huge challenge in aid of our unique foundation and are so very overwhelmed at the amount of funds that has been received through him doing so. Thank you Andy from the bottom of our hearts for helping make a difference to families caring for seriously ill children and for running with pride as a part of TEAM CCF.
