235 Miles ran….. 51 hours 41 minutes of running time over 6 days with only a tent to sleep in at night ….. Andy Roberston you are a machine !
We can not Thank Andy enough for taking on this challenge in the name of Charlie, raising vital funds to support our inspirational families as well helping raise much needed awareness of our unique foundation.
Andy’s challenge began on the England/Scotland Border and ended at Chester Castle on the Welsh border….. 235 miles and 27,000 feet of elevation. There was strict rules in place, Andy had to carry all his own food , clothing , safety equipment , sleeping system with water being topped up every 10 miles or so. Organisers provided a tent with hot and cold water at the end of each stage that’s it ! Andy was not allowed a support team along the way, so there was no out side assistance a completely self sufficient race. Mind you that did not stop his wife conveniently having lunch in a public house that Andy would just happen to be passing !…….or his mate who just happened to be jogging for a short distance on that route !
Thanks to Sarah we were all kept up to date daily on how Andy was getting:
Day 1….. 33 miles complete 5 hrs 47 minutes of running !
Day 2…..36 miles clocked through high winds and heavy rain !
Day 3…..46.3 miles 10 hrs 35 minutes of running including 6200ft climb …… Still smiling (just)!
Day 4 … At the point Sarah accidentally bumped in to Andy he had covered roughly 140 Miles and approximately 16500 Feet…………. We feel your pain Andy !!!
Day 5….. By the end of this day the end was in sight and and amazing 205 miles done in total .
Day 6………. DONE ……..AN UNBELIEVABLE 235 MILES, 27000 FEET !
We can not begin to imagine how physically and mentally challenging this was for Andy but he got through and he came 3rd…. Lack of food and sleep, blisters, nettle stings , rain, wind, rocky paths, mountains ….. … we really do have our very own CCF Superman !
So far Andy has raised an amazing £1200.00 and this figure is still rising. The difference this is going to make to the families we support is priceless, making such a difference at a time that really does matter. By taking away some of the burdens these families face at their darkest of times it is allowing them to spend more time as a family, making memories in the short time that they have left together.
We would like to thank Andy from the bottom of our hearts for his ongoing support for CCF and also a massive Thank you to Sarah and everyone who has sponsored or supported Andy yous truly are Charlies Angels !
WHATS NEXT ANDY ?
